Thinking Of Closing My Blog.

Hi everyone! I'm back. I had a blast in California.

Upon arriving back from Cali, I was thinking about possibly no longer blogging. Closing my blog down. While I love blogging, sometimes it gets a bit much....and this season of life has me busier than ever.
So, I am either thinking of shutting it down for good, taking another month off, or continuing to blog 3 times a week.

Before I make my decision, what do my readers think? Sometimes from the lack of comments, I think not many people read my blog. And, for those of you who comment often...thank you!

I hope you don't choose to shut it down, I really enjoy checking it daily, but I understand it must be overwhelming. I hope you decide to keep it up!

I check your blog everyday. I don't comment but I honestly check with you everyday. I am sure there are many people that are the same way. Ultimately it has to be what is right for you!! I was your age not that long ago and I know it is a crazy time. You have done an amazing job and you should be proud of yourself for your accomplishment.

I love your blog. and read every post!
I would love it if you did not shut it down. But at the same time I can understand the difficulty of trying to keep up when you are busy.
I would love if you kept it going...but just do what is the best thing for you!

I've always enjoyed your blog. I don't think you should shut it down. But definitely don't feel like you have to post everyday. Maybe just cut it back to once a week or something more manageable. Hope you had a great trip!

I also love to check your posts every day and would miss your recipes. Even if it weren't as often, I would love to see you keep it up as long as it makes you happy!

blogging shouldn't be something stressful or something you *have* to do. blogging is for you, and if other people read and comment, that's great!

i say, if you enjoy blogging recipes, just post according to your own schedule. your readers love your work, whether they comment or not, and they'll be happy to see a post whenever you have time to make one. (e.g. i read you on google reader and it won't let me comment directly like it will from your website).

Don't shut down, and post whenever it makes you happy!

Don't shut it down!

Just blog when you want to blog and feel like blogging. You don't have to make it a daily or thrice weekly occurrence. If you make a cool cake or dessert, post it...that's all.

There's no need to coordinate lots of giveaways or anything. And, you should definitely be blogging for yourself and not for comments or stats.

Liv said...

No way. You can't close you blog. I love reading it! Maybe you could just do a blog post a week. That wouldn't take a whole lot of time.

Anonymous said...

I really enjoy your blog, but it should be fun for you as well! Maybe just cut back to posting when you can, even if that is only once a week. Maybe if it does not feel like something that you HAVE to do, you will not feel as overwhelmed. I think no matter what, you should not shut it down. You have worked very hard to create this blog and have a great collection of recipes here! Good luck!

Blogging does become like a second job, especially when you create deadlines/schedules/expectations for yourself.

I used to blog every day, but found it too taxing.

Go with the blog when you feel like it mentality. I think you'll feel better about it.

Oh, don't stop! I love your blog and read it almost every time you post. I don't always have time to comment, but I try to as much as I can.

Your blog is great!

CRibbits said...

I'm a "lurker" that doesn't really comment... I'm pretty bad that way in general about blogs that I read in my RSS feed. I think you should just blog when you want and not feel like you are obligated to with any frequency.

Your blog is one that I always read so I would miss it. HOWEVER, you shouldn't feel like you HAVE TO post something. It shouldn't be something that you dread or feel obligated to do. I understand about the comment issue too, but I've found that people don't always comment when they visit. It's nice to always say something but I think people start thinking that if they comment every time it doesn't sound genuine. I do know that A LOT of people enjoy your site so if they're not commenting, that is not a reflection of whether people like your blog.

I suggest keeping your blog open and blogging whenever you feel like it but not feeling like you have to. If you decide to never post again, I hope you will keep the blog here for the archives. Otherwise, I think a lot of people will miss those recipes you have on here!

Thank you for all the recipes and the time you've put into your blog. I've always appreciated it...as I know a lot of others have.

You're just graduating high school! Your thoughts are all over the place! I think maybe people don't comment because we are busy moms, reading through Google Reader and by the time we open the window to submit a comment we are being dragged away by an angry 2 year old.

Or maybe that's just me... :)

Anyway, do what you feel is right, but know that I love your blog and my family loves your recipes. I wish you the best of luck in everything you do because you are an absolutely darling girl. I hope that if I ever have a daughter she grows up to be like you.

Lots of love - Andrea

Priscilla...please don't shut down! Take some time off if needed...reevaluate things. It does become a bit much at times and sometimes a break is just needed. I've always admired your creativity and love that you are such a talented young woman...I hope my daughter grows up to have your same traits.

PS...I don't comment around as much as I used to...I read for sure, but I keep things quick b/c my kiddies tend to get impatient with me on the computer...lol.

I personally love your blog but you have to do what's best for you. Why don't you take a break and think about blogging when you can fit it in. Take the pressure off and if it's only once a week, as long as your happy, that's what counts.

Natalie said...

i love your blog and have used many of your recipes so i'd be sad to see you leave the blogworld...but i also know how hectic life can be and i want you to do what's best for you!

Aussiemuminthekitchen said...

I'd be so sad if you shut your blog down. Why don't you just blog when you can. Your readers will understand. I think even twice a week is plenty when your busy! Please don't shut it down!

Megan said...

I'm pretty new to your blog -- I found it from another cooking blog -- but I've really enjoyed the recipes I've browsed through. I hope you don't shut it down. Just post when you feel like it, even if you go for long whiles in between.

You have great posts! You shouldn't worry about the numbers of folks who read...as long as you enjoy doing it, that's all that's important. Maybe just posting 1-2x a week?

Nikki said...

PLEASE DON'T SHUT IT DOWN! I love reading your blog, and as of lack of comments... um... NO! you always have itleaset 20 comments, I mean most people are good to get 10! You need to keep blogging

I'd hate to see you go! I agree with everyone else... you run the blog, don't let your blog run you!! :)

I also read EVERY post,

one more thing, if you look at your giveaway post you 139 comments! You do not lack!

I read. I love recipes you post. I hope you don't go away. I am a bad commenter. But it is nothing personal. I love your blog.

I enjoy your blog too. A lot of people don't comment, either because it takes extra time, or they don't have a personal relationship with you so they wouldn't think you'd need a comment from them! I'm not the best commenter, but I enjoy seeing your posts! Do what makes sense for you in your life!

Elizabeth J. said...

Your blog is fantastic and I am hoping you won't shut it down! Maybe you could post less often if things get crazy.

Colleen said...

I read all of your posts because you are in my Google Reader. I have over 200 blogs in my reader so I can't always comment on every post but I am here reading! Don't close your blog on account of lack of comments - you have great posts and are very creative!

Jennifer said...

Depends on your goals: if you are doing it because you truly enjoy posting than you do it if and when you can; if you are trying to make more out of it, that it does become a full time job/career-that I know!!!

I always enjoy reading your space, Priscilla! I do understand the craziness of life. I've cut down my posts a bit recently because it got to be overwhelming. Finding the happy medium was a challenge for me, but I think I've found it.

Ohh I absolutely adore your blog!! I totally understand if you close it because you are so busy, I can relate. But I really hope you don't! Your blog is my favorite baking blog!! hehe :)

I really like your blog, Priscilla. Plus, you have such a great personality that always shines through. I can understand being busy, and you don't want it to become a chore that keeps you from doing other things. I'll miss you if you go, but I will understand. :)

I just stumbled across your blog a couple weeks ago and have already made a couple things, which everyone raved about! I understand about it being time consuming though, I honestly do not know how people do it! Maybe just blog whenever you want to and don't be tied down to a schedule.

Take care!

I don't think you should shut your blog down. At the minimum, maybe you could post once a week. I am studying for the bar and have minimal time. I deleted most of the blogs from my google reader, but kept yours because I love it.

Hi Priscilla! NOooo! Please don't shut down your blog! I love your creativity and your baking is always so yummy! But I would understand if you felt that you needed to stop blogging. =:) Maybe you could do it just monthly or once a week? I don't blog more than once a week most of the time and I still get reader's and so does my sister on her writing blog (and she writes on there even less!). I would love for you to continue with this blog! It is my favorite cooking blog that I have found (and I read tons trust me!) =:D

God Bless!

Are you kidding me??? I would hate to see your blog go. :-( I love visiting and getting ideas. Please don't stop for good....but it is your blog and your decision. But I still don't want you to stop!!!!

I would hate to see your blog close down, too, but I understand why you might want to. Life gets busy! I wish I had as many followers and comments as you.. I am lucky to get just one! I would think and pray on it for a little while longer and then decide if I were you. But you would definitely be missed should you decide to stop blogging!

Priscilla,
I'm sorry that you're been thinking of closing your blog. I, too, read every post and always enjoy the recipes, the pictures, and the things that you share about yourself. I totally understand if you want to close it down as I know how much time it takes, but just know that there are lots of us that appreciate you and all your hard work that goes into this blog!

Meghan said...

I hope that you don't stop blogging! I love your delicious recipes and hearing about your siblings and what you're up to. Like many of your readers, I read all of your posts, but because I do so inconspicuously while I'm at work (shh!), I often can't visit sites to comment as much as I'd like to. I realize this is a super busy time for you, so I'm sure your readers would understand if you don't post as frequently. Ultimately you have to do what's right for you, but I'd miss your posts if you stopped.

elle said...

I really enjoy reading your blog. You could just blog when you want to or feel like it. Don't feel like you are obligated to frequently. Just do what is best for you right now.

Manuela said...

I'm like everyone else.... I love your blog and recipes. If you decide to close it, be aware that we will miss this little special place!

Blogging does take a lot of time and you are so busy with life and fun stuff. Don't feel pressured to blog every day. Just take it one day at a time. I hope you don't stop blogging but if you need a break, take one! Love your blog and recipes!!

Anonymous said...

I've contemplated the same thing for my regular blog, but I didn't close it down yet. I only get 1-2 viewers a week and no comments for over 6 mos, so it's a lot like talking to myself. But then again, I didn't start to blog to be public I did it to express myself. If other people read and get something, great, but blogging is a great way to mark moments in time whether it's a story about something or pictures and recipes of things you create. I've enjoyed your blog for just a little bit, and I have bookmarked some of the recipes to try, so I hope you don't go away. I also like those giveaways. If you choose to shut down, so be it, but I do hope you just blog when it fits into your schedule.

Cristine said...

Please don't close your blog! I mean, if you need to, I totally understand, but I love your blog! I say don't hold yourself to any rules. If you have time to blog, great! If you need a break, take it. I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing what you are up to. Blog on your schedule and do what makes you happy! :)

Stephanie said...

I'm sorry I've never commented before but I'm a daily reader of your blog. Not only do I love your recipes but I like the pictures and tales of your family.

I'd miss you sorely if you closed the blog and I'm hoping you'd consider blogging less to keep it going.

I can't tell you how many blogs I read where your recipes are used and used to favourable results.

You will be missed if you leave us.

Breigh said...

Omg no! I just found you!
I am not the best cook, and I rarely bake, but I have already marked a lot of your recipes to try when I think I am up to it (always having to switch ingredients to things I can find here in Holland, it always screws up things I try to make hehe)

Looking at your site and seeing the things you make is one of my favorite things. I know a few of my friends feel the same way because more than once we've said "Did you see what was on Priscilla Bakes?!" then groan because you make us so hungry haha

Blogging is something you should find fun. If you start finding it to be too much work, just cut back. It doesn't have to be black and white and there are no rules. When you feel like sharing, do so, and we will all be here. When you don't, we'll wait :)

Allie said...

I think every blogger goes through a time like this. I think you grow so fast that it makes it harder to keep up so I would say just cut back some. Everyone will understand, we all follow for a reason so keep up your passion, becuase if you shut it down you'll miss it and regret doing that. So take a blog-holiday and relax.

Rachelle S said...

how did I miss this entry? Anyways, I agree, don't shut it down! A break is always nice and maybe blog just a couple times a week. Pace yourself so you don't get burned out. =)

*Glad you're going to stick around!

Julie said...

Well I love your blog and will read when you post, whether that's daily or once a month. Don't miss out on your fun time right now because of a blog though, you will never get these years back!!! But if you enjoy your blog your faithful readers will read when you do post and not care about a set day or time!!! ENJOY!
I know I don't comment as much on blogs now that I use a reader =)
